Small Bore Target Shooting

One of the largest participation sports in the UK, open to all, irrespective of age, sex and is possible to play at top level with physical disabilities. It has been proved to increase an individual’s concentration and motivation. It was one of the sports included in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Shooting is available at over 1000 clubs round the country. At indoor venues shooting is carried out over about 25 metres, and outside ranges up to about 100 metres. Clubs will provide all the equipment you need to learn to shoot. Participators reaching levels of proficiency can compete in many country-wide competitions.

Shooters compete in shooting accuracy on targets which used to simulate the form of a live target, but nowadays are more conventional bull’s-eye-like ringed targets. Although it is a high participation sport, its media presence is very low as it is rarely televised for legal reasons, even during the Olympics, and partly because of public distaste at the association of guns with violent crime.
