Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has announced plans for four new services from its seventh operating base of Poznan, Poland, seeing the airline link Sheffield and Glasgow with the eastern European country.From January 2008, Wizz Air will fly from Poznan to Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield and Glasgow Prestwick Airport in the UK, along with Malmo and Oslo in Scandinavia.
The carrier believes the move will allow it to complement its existing services at London Luton, Stockholm-Skavsta and Dortmund.
"Wizz Air continues to pursue its expansion strategy in Poland with the establishment of the Poznan base early next year following the developments in Katowice, Warsaw and Gdansk," said Jozsef Varadi, chief executive of Wizz Air.
"The move is expected to create hundreds of local jobs and significant revenue uplift for the tourism industry in the region."
In related news, the carrier recently announced expansion plans for Romania.
