Turkey attraction tops travel list
27 October 2006  British holidaymakers with holiday insurance planning next year's break may be interested in the 'cotton castle' natural wonder at Pamukkale in Turkey that has topped a list of the hottest travel destinations for 2007.

The TravelCast algorithm by travel company TripAdvisor uses a number of criteria to calculate the destinations it predicts will become more popular in the coming months.

Other destinations rated as future "rising stars" for travellers, including those with single-trip or annual holiday insurance, were Parga in Greece and Ayr in Scotland.

Michele Perry, director of communications for TripAdvisor, said: "Nearly 4,000 travellers have spoken about their vacation plans and preferences for 2007 and perhaps the most intriguing discovery is that adventures in the great outdoors have trumped luxuriating at the spa."

She added that TravelCast would be monitored closely in the future and that holidaymakers would be informed on up-to-date travel news throughout the year.

AXA Insurance recently reported that 16 per cent of travellers engaging in adventure activities abroad were doing so without holiday insurance.
