Many of the two million Brits escaping abroad over the Easter period are likely to suffer from holiday stress, according to a study conducted by American Express.According to the credit card provider, two thirds of holidaymakers claimed that they expected to suffer from some degree of stress both before and while on their holiday.
Top of the list of potential irritants for holidaymakers is the prospect of delayed flights, with 61 per cent of those questioned saying that this would stress them out, while nearly half claim that crowds and queues would be likely to induce stress.
In addition, 31 per cent are worried about their luggage and possessions getting lost or stolen and, while a travel insurance policy cannot prevent this occurring, having adequate cover will significantly minimise the stress involved.
Gail Hodges of American Express said: "Brits have been prepared to put up with travel stress because going on holiday is so important to them, but we are seeing increasing numbers of travellers take advantage of VIP lounges, bespoke travel services and flight upgrades."
Recent research from Barclays revealed that a growing number of holidaymakers are using online check-in facilities to make travel easier.
