A UK travel site has announced a partnership with Google Maps to provide holidaymakers with a tool enabling them to locate budget hostels and hotels online before they travel.Using the hybrid function on Google Maps, travellers can have essential map components, such as road names and hostel sites, overlaid on a local satellite image to give a true impression of the area and its surrounding, HostelBookers.com reports.
Holidaymakers can also use the map resources to scan the local area for alternative accommodation nearby if their first choice is fully booked.
David Smith, general manager of HostelBookers.com, said: "This is a sophisticated function that adds value and richness to our customers' booking experience."
He added that the company would be observing the effect of the introduction of this service to its site.
The company offers hostels and other budget accommodation in a number of destinations across Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia.
