Tourists advised to take care in Spain and France

Tourists are being warned to make sure they have holiday insurance to cover their personal belongings when they head to France or Spain this year after the two countries were identified as fraud hotspots in new research.With the winter giving way to spring and a number of families readying themselves to head to the south of France or the Costa del Sol for a little Easter sun, Equifax has reminded the holidaymakers of the potential dangers in such countries.
"When going on holiday, people normally carry their passport, driving licence, credit cards and other identification documents," said Neil Munroe, external affairs director at Equifax.
"Fraud hotspots include USA, France, Spain, Italy and Japan so visitors to these countries need to be extra vigilant."
Many holiday insurance policies cover you for loss of your passport or driving licence, with some also covering a certain amount of cash.
Earlier this month, Holiday-Rentals.co.uk revealed that Easter is the "perfect time" to take a family holiday, with big savings to be made compared with summer.
