For those interested in exploring one of the last bastions of communism, a trip to North Korea could be just the ticket, although comprehensive travel insurance that covers Asia may be advisable.Although entry to the country is not necessarily straightforward, there are a number of things to see and do, including a number of monuments and statues dedicated to Kim Il-sung, the country's eternal president.
Indeed, according to a report by the BBC in 2003, in addition to providing a curriculum vitae, entry requirements also include a letter from the visitor's place of work.
"The number of things to see and do is growing all the time," said Robert Willoughby, an author on travel to North Korea to the BBC.
"There's absolutely no reference to the outside world - no adverts, no symbols," he added.
According to Britain's Foreign & Commonwealth Office, it is advisable to obtain a comprehensive medical insurance policy before travelling to North Korea.
