Southern Africa has been hit by a devastating earthquake. The earthquake struck at midnight in Mozambique but its tremors were felt in nearby South Africa and Zimbabwe.
In the town of Espungabero near the epicentre just two people have been reported dead, a child and a sick person.
While in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, panic-stricken people fled onto the streets as tower blocks started to sway.
In South Africa no casualties have been reported but police were inundated with calls as people were woken by the quake and some damage to property has occurred.
The earthquake measured 7.5 on the Richter scale, half a point weaker than the earthquake that caused the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
It was the area's most powerful earthquake in a century.
The earthquake was largely unexpected and reflects the need for travel insurance wherever you are heading to.
