For people with annual travel insurance who are looking for a city break, Rome could be an option as it has recently been named as a best-selling city destination. Flexibletrips states that Rome was its most popular city break location during February, reports the Travelmole website, beating Paris, Prague and Barcelona to the top spot.
Commenting on the research, Stephen Vaughn, head of worldwide sales at Flexbletrips, told Travelmole that Rome has "benefited most from the romantics who like to book city breaks for their Valentine sweethearts, outselling even Paris as the most traditional venue for those treating a loved one".
For those with annual travel insurance who choose to visit the city, David Willet, the BBC's Rome correspondent, writing in the Belfast Telegraph, advises visitors to avoid the crowds by paying a visit to National Roman Museum, which is located inside the former baths of Emperor Diocletian.
However, for people who looking to take advantage of multi-trip insurance and feel like a beach as well as a city break, the online travel agent found that Majorca topped its list of beach holidays.
Mr Vaughn told Travelmole that the industry is picking up on the need for diverse destinations.
"These statistics and the growing trend for booking beach holidays as well as city breaks highlight that the benefits of dynamic packaging for both are being embraced by travel agents who are finding it a useful tool for a wide range of customer needs," he said.
