Taking the time to prepare properly for your holiday can reap benefits in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Aside from ensuring you have holiday insurance that will cover everything you plan to get up to on holiday, Bradford & Bingley has issued a recommended checklist of guidelines to follow.
"For many holidaymakers getting a good deal and making the most of the time with their friends and families is their top priority at this time of year," said Dave Foyle, Bradford & Bingley's head of general insurance.
"But without taking a few quick and careful precautions, a holiday could soon become stressful rather than stress-relieving."
The top tips include: checking whether you need vaccinations at least six weeks ahead of departure; getting an E111 form from the Post Office; keeping all important documents in a hotel safe and using travellers cheques rather than cash; leaving a copy of documents with someone at home; clearly labelling luggage and keeping valuables in your hand luggage.
If holidaymakers can ensure they see to all this, then there is no reason for their summer break to take a turn for the worse.
