Parents taking their children on holiday this year may favour domestic breaks alternative travel methods as it is reported that many experience difficulties as a result of long flight times and queues.Advice website Raisingkids.co.uk reports that - especially for families with smaller children or babies - flights can prove troublesome, with long-haul flights being especially problematic.
Catherine Hanly, editor of the site, said: "Particularly when children get to 18 months, they won't sit still on their seat or fall asleep on the plane, and it's more tricky."
She added that parents with smaller children may prefer flights that are under two and a half hours in length.
Ms Hanly notes that the popularity of holidays overseas in part persists due to the cost of domestic breaks, with it being "amazingly expensive" to rent a holiday home.
Last August, a survey from holiday insurance provider NatWest revealed that most parents would not go on holiday without their children before they reach the age of 16.
