Britons taking advantage of their holiday insurance to head to the US next year may be interested in the latest survey by the world-renowned Zagat guide, which listed New York as the most popular city in the US.The survey of hotels, resorts and spas reported that 25 per cent of those questioned tipped New York City as the place they would most like to visit.
Another finding of the survey of 14,461 individuals, including 936 travel professionals, was an increase in hotel prices over the past two years.
However, Tim Zagat, chief executive officer of Zagat Survey, said: "Even though top hotels and resorts are more expensive than ever, they are getting better and better all the time."
The review of over 1,000 hotels and resorts named the Four Seasons as the top hotel chain, with the Peninsula Chicago rated the top large hotel.
Last year, annual holiday insurance provider Barclays reported that Britons spent £275 million in New York in 2004.
Adrian Grace, managing director of Barclays Insurance, advised shoppers abroad to purchase "comprehensive and up-to-date" holiday insurance to cover their purchases abroad.
