Holidaymakers told to book early
28 September 2006  Families in the habit of buying their tickets and holiday insurance at the last minute may be able to save money and get more freedom of choice by booking their trips earlier, a holiday company has claimed.

Direct Holidays has advised that travellers can have a much greater choice of the time and place of their breaks by booking their holidays earlier, before the most popular times have been booked up.

The company is also offering a range of money off deals on early bookings.

"Booking early ensures you get exactly the holiday you want and is especially popular with families," the company said.

"A number of routes have daytime flights and by booking early people can secure these to avoid upsetting their child's routine at the start of a holiday," it added.

Families can pick up holiday insurance and book flights now for destinations including Lanzarote and Florida.

Adviser Martin Lewis from the MoneySavingExpert website advises that while the cheapest deals are still available at the last minute, booking at least nine months in advance of a holiday can offer savings and choice.
