The airport has been blanketed in thick fog for the past day and a half, meaning many passengers have been going nowhere fast as fog delayed and diverted flights.
Holidaymakers, business people and even the Lions rugby team were caught up in the foggy conditions which left hundreds stranded into the departures lounge.
Air travellers are still being advised to check with their airlines before making their way to the airport as delayed flights are currently being placed in a catch up queue.
Around 11 international flights had to be diverted because of the heavy fog, including incoming flights from Brisbane and Tonga.
Airport operations manager David Hansen says domestic flights should be up to date by the end of Friday.
