holiday insurance could help the thousands of England fans heading to Germany this summer, and help ensure their safety, reports have suggested. Supporters can potentially save themselves thousands of pounds by making sure they have adequate cover, or by checking that their annual holiday insurance policy covers the trip.
Potential costs for personal injury can be around £8,000 for an air ambulance back to the UK, and holiday insurance policies to cover these are available for around £10, a fraction of World Cup match tickets.
Richard Mason, director at price comparison site insuresupermarket.com has urged travelling fans not to head to Germany uninsured.
"We expect up to a third of those travelling to this year’s World Cup to go without travel insurance, which is a very significant number of people putting themselves at unnecessary risk," he commented.
"Having travel insurance may seem like a fairly obvious thing but many people don’t think they need to take out a policy, don’t bother or just forget. For just £9.50 you can insure against any potential mishaps."
With 32 nations competing from around the globe this summer and some of the world's best players on display, the English FA have urged followers of the team to take as many safety precautions as possible to make sure the tournament is an enjoyable one, on and off the field.
