Eurolines, a European coach company, has been promoting new deals aimed at shoppers loaded with holiday insurance looking for Christmas gifts.With increased worries about baggage restrictions on airplanes as a result of recent events, the company is publicising its free 30 kilograms baggage allowance.
Budget airlines often have a lower free allowance of ten to 20 kilograms for hold baggage.
John Gilbert, managing director at Eurolines, has said that people looking for presents would do well to take coach trips to the European shopping capitals of Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Lille in time for Christmas.
"You not only save on the fare but can really use our large baggage allowances on the way back," he said.
"We don't want to spoil a shopping trip with an extra bill for carrying it home," he continued.
Shoppers returning to the UK with bags of expensive gifts, along with other travellers, have been advised by the holiday insurance industry to ensure they are covered by single-trip or annual travel insurance in case of loss or damage to their bags.
