Holders of annual holiday insurance may be interested to learn of a new campaign which aims to dispel the traditional idea of Egypt as a "once in a lifetime" travel destination.The Egyptian Tourism Authority has just launched a series of new television adverts which are designed to promote the ancient country as an all-year round destination for visitors.
The Gift of the Sun campaign is based around ten commercials, each depicting different elements of Egypt from sunrise to sunset, from the famous Pyramids at Giza to the felucca cruises which operate on the River Nile as the sun goes down.
Commenting on the new advertisements, which will be screened across Europe, Asia and North America over the next two years, Egypt's tourism minister Zoheir Garranah said the commercials reflected the "many wonderful experiences" Egypt had to offer visitors.
"We believe the new campaign is our most creative and dynamic yet, and we look forward to welcoming more international visitors to Egypt for many years to come," he added.
The Egyptian Tourism Authority warns travellers to ensure that their holiday insurance covers them in case of emergencies before coming to the country, including checking that they are covered in case they need to be evacuated by air to either their home country or a hospital in a major city as a result of illness.
Last year, some 8.6 million people visited Egypt.
