Cruise holidays are becoming an ideal choice of trip for family travellers, a tour operator has claimed.Thomas Cook notes that increasing numbers of shops are now 'child friendly', with a number of facilities to cater for young people aged six months to 17 years old.
A number of liners were recommended for younger travellers, including the Princess ships with children's films and the Ocean Village that offers kids clubs and a circus school.
A spokesperson for the firm said: "With everything under one roof, parents have the reassurance that the little ones will be kept entertained while they too can make the most out of a holiday."
He added that often the cost for a cruise includes board and activities for children, allowing families to budget their holidays more easily.
Last year, holiday insurance provider Halifax reported that 45 per cent of men and 43 per cent of women considered a cruise to be part of their dream holiday.
