Travellers to China should take note that temperatures in the Shanghai and Chongqing regions are currently climbing as high as 39.8 degrees Celsius, causing electricity supply problems for visitors and residents alike. The heatwave is thought to have been exacerbated by the use of air conditioning units, which has resulted in ten days of sweltering temperatures.
Local power supplies are already under strain while Shanghai's meteorological observatory has issued a "black warning".
Visitors should, therefore, prepare themselves for the possibility of even more extreme temperatures to come.
