Brits choose homegrown stars for holiday partners

Given the choice, Britons would rather head abroad with UK celebrities than glamorous Hollywood stars, according to a survey by travel insurance provider Barclays.Peter Kay topped the list, followed by Keira Knightly, with George Clooney, Kylie Minogue and Angelia Jolie being the only non-Britons on the list.
Martin Till, marketing director for Barclays Insurance, noted that holidaymakers from the UK see their trips abroad as a chance to get away from their daily routine and better enjoy their time.
"While we cannot provide you with your favourite travel companion," he said "we can make sure that you don?t have to worry about anything else like cancelled flights, getting ill or lost luggage by taking out sufficient travel insurance."
A similar poll published two years ago by Endsleigh saw David Beckham top the male list of preferred celebrity holiday companion, with Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom topping the list for women.
