British travellers dream of Hollywood destinations

Britons are travelling around the UK and the rest of the world in search of locations they have seen on the silver screen, a survey has revealed. Coinciding with the launch of the Da Vinci Code, polls for Halifax travel insurance states that locations such as Rosslyn Chapel could get up to 700,000 new British tourists because of its on-screen appearance.
Research also showed that up to 45 per cent of 16 – 24 year olds had their holiday destinations influenced by locations they had seen in films, from Harry Potter to Brokeback Mountain.
However, there are "different risks associated with different countries and regions" warned Vicky Emmott of Halifax, meaning that people need travel insurance.
She explained that it was important for insurers to know about such long-term patterns to ensure that they foresaw trends for provision of travel insurance.
Locations drawing in visitors include New Zealand, which has "starred" in Lord of the Rings, King Kong and the Chronicles of Narnia, as well as Canada where Brokeback Mountain was set.
Other current blockbusters, such as Mission Impossible using Germany and The Constant Gardener in Kenya, could tempt Britons to travel.
Overall, a quarter of Britons said that their holiday destination had been influenced by films or novels, meaning that they may have to check out their travel insurance as well as reviews before their next visit to the cinema.
