The number of Britons choosing to go on skiing holidays for their travels has increased, according to new reasearch. Seven per cent more holidaymakers chose to take a skiing holiday last winter when compared to the year before, according to the latest report from Crystal - with many choosing to take holiday insurance to ensure peace of mind.
Figures suggest that 1.15 million skiing holidays were bought between 2005-6, which represents a 40 per cent increase from the 80s.
Commentators suggest that last winter's peak suggests stronger than expected growth, with the rise down to an increased number of independent travellers.
Website Snowboardclub, comments: "France remains the most popular ski destination, taking 36.3 per cent of UK skiers, up by 0.2 per cent, while Austria maintained its share of the market from the previous winter of 20.1 per cent as the UK's second most popular ski destination. Switzerland grew (by 0.4 per cent) as did Bulgaria, Slovenia, Serbia and Finland."
Although travel insurance policies do cover injuries, holidaymakers can also opt for dedicated ski insurance to cover the cost of healing injuries incurred while on the slopes.
