Five people have been killed and at least 13 injured after a bomb exploded on a tourist bus in Turkey. Helen Bennett, of Co Durham, and Tara Whelan, of Co Waterford, Ireland, were among those to lose their lives in the incident, while Stephen Staples and Michael Aspinall, of north-east England, remain in hospital.
The blast took place in the popular holiday resort of Kusadasi.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, most tourists are set to defy the terrorists and not change their holiday plans.
Thomas Cook confirmed that of the 1,000 people on holiday in Kusadasi, only six had expressed a desire to leave.
Turkey has become the seventh most popular tourist destination among Britons, enjoying a rise in package holiday bookings of 40 per cent.
This comes despite the rising level of terrorist activity in the country and a bomb at the British consulate in Istanbul less than two years ago.
