The traditional summer beach holiday is still the way Brits want to enjoy their time off, according to the findings of a new survey. Research by Virgin Money Travel Insurance reveals that 38 per cent of holidaygoers are happy to hit the beach on holiday, while trips to lakes, mountains and coach tours grew in popularity.
British beaches only attracted 28 per cent of those looking for a holiday on the coast, with European beaches welcoming 53 per cent.
Other findings of the study discovered that the average cost of a holiday is £862, although 44 per cent of people manage to spend less than £500 on their holiday.
It is important that no more unnecessary costs associated with your holiday are incurred, and having holiday insurance will help to ensure this.
"The last thing anyone needs when they're on holiday is to have a mishap or lose their holiday cash. Should the worst happen having the right travel cover will bring peace of mind so that they can enjoy their break," said John Franklin, a spokesperson for Virgin Money Travel Insurance.
