Most Americans dream of visiting foreign locales such as Australia for their holidays, yet when it comes time to take out holiday insurance and book tickets, most end up staying in their own country, according to a new survey. Of 1,100 Americans surveyed, many of whom will take out holiday insurance, 65 per cent said that they would like to go to Australia or New Zealand over the next 12 months.
However, only about one per cent had any concrete plans to do so, according to a recent online Omnibus survey.
The survey also found that 24 per cent feared getting sick, even with the option of annual holiday insurance available.
Ten per cent of those surveyed also feared getting into an accident with a rental car while on holiday, even considering the fact that accidents are covered by most travel insurance deals.
Whether holidaymakers take out all-important holiday insurance or risk going abroad without it, the will but perhaps not the way is definitely there.
Recently even basketball legend Irving "Magic" Johnson has opened his own travel agency.
