Hundreds of Scots have been caught up in airport chaos as they attempt to jet away on their holidays. A crisis involving the airline Air Scotland has caused several flights to suffer lengthy delays, leaving some passengers stranded abroad while some are simply unable to get away.
Any holidaymaker using Air Scotland will be hoping they took out adequate holiday insurance before booking as the situation has yet to resolve itself, with a backlog of passengers causing further problems.
On Saturday, a flight returning to Glasgow from Palma was delayed for 17 hours. It could not take off as the airline was unable to afford the cost of the fuel for the flight.
Similar difficulties meant some 200 passengers were delayed in Malaga trying to return to Edinburgh. They were also without their luggage after baggage handling fees were not paid.
Another 200 passengers wanting to fly to Malaga on Sunday night faced delays of more than 12 hours.
It has even been reported that some tourists have been trying to pay the airline's fuel bill themselves in an attempt to get their plane in the air.
