Travellers to Norway have faced serious delays this week due to continuing strikes by staff working for Scandinavian Airline System (SAS). Roughly 70 flights were cancelled by noon on Tuesday, following on from Monday's chaos when 150 pilots walked off the job in protest at proposed job cuts and worsened working conditions.
"This decision has been taken because the president of the pilots' association has given no positive sign than his union members will resume work Tuesday," Jens Willumsen, deputy director of SAS Denmark, told Forbes.
Many passengers were left stranded at airports and forced to spend the night at nearby hotels.
At Copenhagen, the country's largest airport, the situation was particularly bad as a result of a series of cancelled flights at the weekend due to bad weather.
For those without holiday insurance the delays are proving to be particularly frustrating as a number of passengers have been attempting to travel since Saturday but have received little advice or assistance with other flights or accommodation.
